Amy Albert
Amy Albert, her husband Sean Gernant, and their son, James Gernant have been privileged to be Jersey City residents for the last ten years. Amy has practiced public interest law for the majority of the last twenty two years.
She currently works at the Hudson County Offices of the Public Defender. She provided legal representation to indigent and working class people at The Waterfront Project, Covenant House New Jersey, Brooklyn Defender Services' Brooklyn Adolescent Representation Team, and the Legal Aid Society's Juvenile Representation Team.
Amy founded Haven Adolescent Community Respite Center, a seven year old Jersey City non-profit providing services and support to youth at risk of homelessness and incarceration due to family crisis with the vital support of several Hudson County youth serving professionals and public servants. Haven is now ably led by Sandra Lovely, Executive Director and Co-Board Chairs Kimberly Goycochea and Carmen Russell Sluschansky.
Amy has been honored to serve on the Youth Services Commission and the Executive Committee of Hudson County Alliance to End Homelessness where she has had the privilege to partner with a wide range of dedicated and deeply skilled Hudson County providers and leaders.
Finally, Amy is proud to be the mom to an amazing kid - James Gernant- and wife to a compassionate and kick butt mental health services provider - Sean Gernant.
