Monique Smith-Andrews
Monique Smith-Andrews is a world-renowned beauty expert, salon owner, certified makeup artist, philanthropist, and educator. After starting her journey in beauty culture, she learned the trade and acquired many of her present values and work ethics. Gifted with a vision, her undeniable talents and through perseverance, she opened Monique's Techniques ™, 35 years ago.
After becoming a certified makeup artist, Monique acquired training under Sam Fine,a celebrity makeup artist. An employer of local people, Monique Smith-Andrews operates a successful "business incubator" of sorts; many of her employees have become business owners in their own right, as a direct result of her tutelage. Considered a community activist, Monique sponsors many charitable events that benefit those forgotten community members from lower socioeconomic backgrounds, and the community-at-large. Through her 26 years of community service, Thanksgiving Day feedings and annual fundraisers. Monique's commitment as a philanthropist is evidenced by her Mo' Hair Foundation (a nonprofit organization with 501 (c)(3) status). Mo Hair Charities has allowed her to function as an owner and operator of a beauty salon at a New Jersey based-hospital for 2 years.
She currently works at Beth Israel Fredricka B Cohen cancer and Trinitas cancer center for RWJ Bananas Health in which she provids free non-surgical hair replacements for men, women, and children, who have experienced hair loss due to cancer treatments, Alopecia, Lupus, or any serious scalp conditions caused by a result of trauma. Present, Monique continues to provide free non-surgical hair replacements for those in need of an outside of a hospital setting. Her philanthropic activities have attracted accolades from many civic leaders, organizations, and humanitarian efforts.
She humbly commits to the work of assisting and encouraging the less fortunate and disadvantaged. Additionally, she has been interviewed on several radio stations throughout the Tri-State Area and television programs such as: Spotlight NJ with Della Crews on News 12 NJ, Positively Black with Tracie Strahan, and Jen Maxfield of News 4 NBC. In 2019 the October issue of O Magazine, the Mo Hair Foundation was featured for the Breast Cancer Month.
Currently, Monique shares her life with her husband and their beautiful children in New Jersey.
